A Brilliant Product October 12, 2008 W. browse (U.K.) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
After suffering with Kenwood's Total Clean fryer we bought this product because it seemed to answer all the faults of the other one. It has a totally removable rectangular lid - no latches or hinges to break or become gunged up. It's rectangular shape also makes for more convenient storage. It has two sturdy handles which make it much safer to move. It has a good length of power cord and a cord storage space which is fiddly but does the job. It has a mechanical timer and only operates when the timer is activated. When the timer returns to zero the unit switches off - so if you forget to do so the thing does not go on heating the oil. The basket is a good size and is easily removeable. The heating element can be completely removed for easy cleaning. The thermostat is very accurate and calibrated in temperature degrees rather than symbols, making it almost impossible to over-cook the food. The viewing window is large enough and situated at the front of the lid so that steaming up is less of a problem. I have been using mine for 3 months and have encountered none of the technical problems described by other reviewers. If you are looking for a good, efficient fryer - look no further.
With regard to the problem other reviewers have had with the on-off switch I would suggest a simple way to avoid it is to leave this switch on The timer has to be used to activate the unit and when it returns to zero it turns the heater off. Also you could merely turn it off at the mains. But I repeat.....five months of use and no problems so far.
Excellent Value January 15, 2010 caveat emptor (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Arrived quickly - price much better than I could find in the shops. Cooked our Xmas roast potatoes perfectly. Has all the features needed - looks modern - large basket for family portion sizes - warms up quickly - dismantles completely for cleaning - takes exactly 2 x 2 litre bottles of oil to max mark - i,e, no wastage - and no release catches or hinges to break or stick like our last fryer. Other reviews have commented on longevity of the on/off switch - no need to use it, just unplug when finished (the timer is a very good safety feature - it will switch off for you if you forget!).

we bought this product to make our own chips after becoming bored with oven chips and provided you use a variety of potato recommended for chips -- it makes great chips !!
brillaint July 13, 2010 L. Hutchison bought this chip pan as our old one's basket broke (due to its cheapness) and found this one. I saw all the comments before buying it and after having it for over a month now and used it nearly every day its been fine and the writing hasnt came off and the on and off button is fine too.... i only switch the on button once and kept it like that and just use the switch on the wall for on and off as i dont want to buy a new switch form all the comments saying about the switch so that is easy lol. ok 1st couple of times of using it, the chips was black but hey thats cause of the newness of it. but since then we have made chips and crisps and roast potatoes and they have all came out a treat. as for the comment about the fish being stuck in the basket..... dont use the basket when doing your own battered fish or it will stick (use common sense ffs lol) and thats about it really, no problems and the basket is really sturdy and not flexable like my cheap nasty old one, no faults with this whatsoever so i recoment to buy and do the things i say and it will be fine :) 5 stars *****
