We purchased this buffet server as it does say its a 'professional' model and thought it would be suitable for our small guest house. We wanted to use it daily just for breakfast so it is on everyday for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately all the plastic lids have cracked and did so after just a few days - this was due to the heat. Overall we would not purchase this product again - it retains heat and keeps food at an adequate temperature but due to the state of the lids will soon be rendered useless.

We purchased this item before the previous review was written. I wish I had been able to read the review first. We have the same problem with cracked and melting lids. You would expect a product that produces heat to be able to withstand heat but this warmer certainly can't. It keeps the food warm and with better lids (glass or metal) this product would be great. As it stands, it is useless but very heavy and expensive to return. BEWARE!!
