Breville DF39 Silver Deep Fryer
I am disappointed with the Breville DF39. Firstly, the colour was sold as silver, although the actual colour is grey. There is no metallic type fleck in the plastic moulding at all, apart from the lid open button and the basket handle. This was only a minor point though compared to what was to come. I purchased the item and the basket handle seemed slightly loose and cheap but thought it would be okay, after all it was new!. The steam from the food mainly escaped from the sides of the lid rather than through the filter and this could easily scold you but I persevered. Anyway, 42 days after purchase and the steam and oil cascading from the fryer has now smudged most of the decals / display information from the outer wall and the basket handle wont support the weight of any food when removing from the oil. This means that the basket drops straight into the hot fat when attempting to lift out and this sends a splash of hot oil onto your skin. I would not recommend this fryer.

I wish I had read the reviews on this item before buying it. I have exactly the same faults as described in the previous reviews, steam escaping from the sides, poor quality handle etc. However the decals/cooking information on mine smudged off on the very first wipe with a clean cloth, no detergents or any cleaners were used. So now I have to guess what temperature setting I have selected because there is nothing left to show the settings. Not that it seems to make any difference where you place the thermostat slider. All in all the product looks and feels cheap. Goodness knows what sort of quality control checks were in place when they produced this heap of rubbish. So please avoid this product at all costs.

The locking mechanism in the folding handle allows the basket to drop down when lifting it out. This potentially could allow hot food to contact the user or fall into the hot oil causing splashing.
Also very poorly made.
