F18304 De Longhi Fat Fryer review November 27, 2009 DaveB1089 (Gatwick UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the third one of these we have had over the years (different models), but they just get better and better. The frying time as listed is accurate and by using a decent fat, the food (usually chips) comes out crisp and dry, to coin a phrase!!! There is a nice big window to view the food, but it does condensate and the viewing becomes difficult. There really should be a slider to clear the window. De Longhi please note if you read this. This should not put anyone off though, it is a good unit and worth the money in my opinion.

De'Longhi F18304 Roto Freyer December 15, 2009 J A Sutton 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Compared with other simular products this fryer is good value for money, chips do actually taste better and it is quite simple to use, however, the sight glass does steam up and cooking contents cannot be seen, another area of improvement would be a timer to alert when the cooking is complete.

Roto Fryer July 26, 2010 Trish Brilliant fryer, had this before, only bad thing is the lid which has the tendency to fling open very quickly if you are not prepared for it.

Firstly, congratulations to Amazon. Service 100% as always.
Agree with DaveB1089 comments regarding window.Great idea but totally impracticable.Suggest DeLonghi go back to the drawing board, if this is supposed to be a Primary Feature.
Regarding the actual fryer, you could say this is my first adventure into cooking my own chips, having for years put up with the "Frozen Tasteless Type". Selected this model after reading a survey carried out by Which Mag. It was one of their Best Buy recomendations, so I thought I'd give it a try. Very impressed with the general design and extremely simple to operate
Made my fitst attempt today. Obviously used the wrong oil (Sunflower), or the wrong potatoes (Maris Piper), or a combination of both. Chips were "Flat", and somewhat soggy, (not crispy),as I was hoping for.
Can anyone suggest the best combination of potatoes and oil, with some advice on times etc? I was somewhat disappointed with the results from my first effort.
Would have given this a 5 star rating apart from the window, and the soggy chips. I'm no chef, just a person who enjoys a "Good Chip" once in a while.
